Austria
Hallo Breitenwang - thanks for the introduction to the Alps and Tirol!
Friday September 9th - After our day of travel we had made it to our third country - Austria! We checked into our room and were immediately in love with the view. There are the foothills of the Alps right outside our window, WOW! My mind goes straight to the lyric, "The hills are alive with the sound of music" and a smile crossed my face as I was enthralled with the beauty before me. We had a little downtime before dinner and took advantage of the washing machines in the hotel. Next it was on to dinner and then some Tyrolean entertainment.
What a fun night of live Tyrolean music (something we had never heard of before tonight). I was the fortuitous member from the group that was selected to join the band! I had the privilege of playing the Alpine Bass Drum, or as I have always known it, the trash bag. That was a night I will never forget!

Saturday September 10th - We woke up early to join the optional hike, because why sleep in when you can take a hike in the Alps?! It was a little misty but beautiful and everything was so green - quite the change from the cities we have been touring. And the fun part was we actually crossed the border on our hike - we were now back in Germany! We wound our way around the lake and were at the meeting spot with the rest of the group and ready to head up to take our Neuschwanstein Castle tour. We started at Marienbrücke, the bridge that was situated right behind the castle. The scenery from this point was well worth the extra walk! Then we headed back down to wait for our tour group number to be called. As we waited, we were able to enjoy some hot mulled wine, one of our favorite ways to warm up. When it was our turn to tour, we found out that picture taking was prohibited inside the castle. After lunch we headed back to Austria and to Ernberg Castle and the High Line Suspension Bridge. It was another day of fun and of making memories!
